Iron Helix
Alien Isolation as a point-and-click adventureGenre: adventure - point n click
Publisher: Spectrum HoloByte
Year: 1994
System: Sega CD
Gameplay Score: 0
Gameplay Notes:
Every button press initiates a long animation which can take 2-5 seconds to complete. So, steel yourself for a sloooow experience. Maybe this is cheating, but the game is almost playable if you turn on fast forward in an emulator. Almost, but not quite, because there's precious little to do. And everything you do uses a very limited amount of health/power. This discourages exploration and experimentation, which is all you can do! Your only available actions are to move, pop out your arm, and interact with your arm. Boooring
Level Design Score: 1
Level Design Notes:
You're in a derelict spaceship and your objective is to find DNA from the dead crew. After 30 minutes I never found any such thing but go killed by the unseen ship "defender" every couple of minutes. Uggh
Theme Score: 3
Theme Notes:
You're nosing around a ship with a rogue AI that's hell bent on killing you. It's essentially a claustrophobic Metroid Dread with zero controls. Or better yet, Alien Isolation as a point-and-click adventure.
Art Style Score: 1
Art Style Notes:
WAY too dark. Hard to tell what can be interacted with. Small viewport.
Audio Score: 1
Audio Notes:
What audio? There are only a few videos with voice acting and they're overly quiet and muffled.
Overall Score: 12
