King Arthur's World

It's better to be lucky than good

Genre: puzzle - platform

Publisher: Jaleco

Year: 1992

System: SNES

Gameplay Score: 1

Gameplay Notes:

Very slow gameplay. Frustratingly slow. Combine that with a ton of randomness and it's just not fun. Controls are difficult. Where Lemmings streamlined job selection and movement into effectively a one-button system, this game makes use of every face button as well as button+d-pad combinations. The main challenge in this game is remembering how to do what you want to do.

Level Design Score: 2

Level Design Notes:

The levels have way too much randomness. Completing a level is as much about luck as it is about skill or knowledge.

Theme Score: 4

Theme Notes:

Love the idea and the presentation. I really really really want this game to be good. The pre and post-level still art sets the stage nicely.

Art Style Score: 3

Art Style Notes:

Very simple graphics that do the job fine. Particle effects like explosions are fun.

Audio Score: 4

Audio Notes:

You're likely to only hear the first song, but the OST for this game is actually fairly epic, with a variety of classical songs arranged in MIDI format and in glorious Dolby surround sound. Check it out: https://downloads.khinsider.com/game-soundtracks/album/king-arthur-s-world-1992-snes
