Kick Off 3: European Challenge for SNES PAL
Review #3916
Kick Off 3: European Challenge
Arcade or Simulation?
Gameplay
This title has enough configuration settings to make it a straight up arcade title, or a straight-up simulator. Naturally, I favor the former, and I love it for that. With the simulation features turns on you have to handle every dribble of the ball, which actually isn't too bad in this game compared to the others from this generation that have the same feature.
Unlike the other games in the Dino Dini/World League Soccer/Kick Off series, this one has a side view, which I'm not crazy about, but the fast pace and easy control make it approachable and fun. For a soccer game, anyway. It's not top tier, but it's darn close. My only real complaint is that you can't properly aim your passes.
Level Design
Props for all the difficulty settings. Easy to jump into a friendly match or start a tournament. Country or league teams.
Theme
No language barrier, nor the crappy non-text menus so common in the PAL region titles.
Art Style
Ugly artwork. Players remind me of NPCs from Paperboy 2.
Audio
Crowd noise
